Patrick Watson Playlist

Patrick Watson showed up on my radar when he/they won the 2007 Polaris Prize (Canada’s version of the Mercury Prize), nudging out Feist (!) and Arcade Fire (!).  Much as I love the early work, this trippy, layered mash of synth and acoustic is my favourite Patrick Watson album.  The songs are not exactly hummable, not that that’s a bad thing, with the atmospheric shades of Pink Floyd.  This is mood music, with a lovely threnodic, whispery, blurriness about it.
